Postpartum Support

Our goal is to support women and families in having more satisfying birth experiences. Through the ages women have supported each other through the experience of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period by being good listeners and by keeping the household running.

A postpartum visit could include:

               Quiet nonjudgemental support and companionship
Teaching newborn care, i.e. soothing, bathing, sleeping, etc.
Supporting siblings and partners to "mother the mother"
Help with breast or bottle feeding
               Light cooking and/or shopping
               Laundry and household tidying
Taking care of baby while you shower, rest, or take a few minutes to yourself
Making sure you are fed and hydrated
Referrals to experienced professionals when appropriate
Many families find support within the first two weeks critical while others wait until visiting family has departed. The average postpartum visit is four hours, which we find ideal. We are available to review the possibilities with you and answer any questions you may have about how we can meet your individual needs.

Reimbursement (our post/ante-partum rate is $25/hr)
If you have Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance or the Catamount Program and are enrolled in Better Beginnings, you are eligible to be reimbursed for 9 hours of postpartum care under "homemaker services".

Many Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) will also allow reimbursement or direct payment for our services, please check with your company.

Antepartum Support

Occasionally women find themselves on bed rest or just needing extra support during pregnancy and could use similar support to the services offered in the postpartum period. Again we are available to explore the needs of each individual.

An antepartum visit might include:

               Quiet nonjudgemental support and companionship

               Running errands or shopping
               Meal preparation
               Laundry and household tidying
Making sure you are fed and hydrated
Referrals to experienced professionals when appropriate
Setting up the "nursery"

Housekeeping

We know that sometimes as a new parent the last thing you want to do is house cleaning. We can come in and do a specific organizing project or clean from top to bottom with safe, green products.

We can also haul away small household items and clothing to local charities for donation in an effort to benefit our local community and keep useful items out of the landfill.
